Wroxeter Roman Vineyard Tour and Tasting with Lunch for Two

About the experience
Product ID: 14569
We heard it through the grapevine that a tour of Shropshire's oldest winery awaits on this unique package for you, a friend, a family member or a loved one to enjoy together! Wroxeter Roman Vineyard is steeped in history, dating back to when grapes were first grown on vines on the sandy plateau that sits near the River Severn in 50AD. Back then, it was known under its Roman name, Uriconium, and this proud heritage of wine making continues here to this very day, with an award winning, family run business producing some of the finest British red and white wines. And over the course of your guided tour out in the glorious Shropshire countryside, you'll learn all about how wine making was done here in the past - and how it's now done in the present day, and how grapes are grown for wine making, most crucially. As you set foot amongst rows upon rows of vines, you'll discover more about the particular varieties of grapes that are chosen, how they are cared for and what quality of soil and climate best produces the ideal grapes. Heading back inside the winery, you'll be taken through the whole production process, from harvesting and pressing the grapes, to corking them in bottles and adding the vineyard's famous labels. Your tour will end in fine style with a tasting session of all five wines that are produced here, along with a stunning one course lunch for you both!
