One Aerotow Glider Flight - North Devon

About the experience
Product ID: 14413
Have you ever considered going on a gliding adventure in Devon? You can witness the breathtaking countryside from a serene vantage point, soaring through the skies above this peaceful corner of the South West. This friendly aero club in North Devonshire will make you feel like part of the team throughout your gliding experience. You will be taking an aerotow glider flight in a vintage RAF trainer glider called the Slingsby Silver T21 Sedbergh, affectionately known as "The Barge." If you're interested in trying your hand at flying, the instructor will hand you the controls so you can take charge of the glider. And if you're feeling particularly confident in your new flying abilities, you can remain in control for the rest of the flight. This aero club owns and maintains all the aircraft used for these gliding-over Devon experiences. It is one of the oldest clubs in the county, with a small fleet of modern and vintage open-cockpit gliders. All the instructors are fully qualified and members of the British Gliding Association.

This was a fantastic day out although I was the one to go gliding, myelf and my wife were both made to feel incredibly welcome by Barry and his team.We were both shown how to move the glider into position and how to hitch it up to the tow plane, while I was given loads of info about how all the controls worked there werent actually many of themThe flight itself was amazing what a thing to do with the open cockpit, it felt like sailing in the airI felt completely safe with Barry with all his experience as a commercial airline pilot in command and covering me when I had a few goes at taking the controls for myself. The great thing was that once I was down, we were invited to help the next person to have a go, chatting with them and helping them to move the glider into position and hitch up then watching them go off.It was all such great fun think Ill do all it again for my 80thChris Gooding.

My experience had been planned as x3 glider flights, however, on the appointed day, the glider tug was unavailable due to mechanical difficulties. I was offered an alternative, which gave me more time in the air, and allowed me to travel further. I am very pleased with the whole experience, and would recommend it to anyone interested in flying.

Wow what a fantastic day on my first ever glider flight. Went thinking i would just sit in the back, but no helped get the glider out, up the field, and had a go flying it in the air then helped land it. Would recommend this experience to anyone looking to do something different. Thanks to the team at Eaglescott Airfield Devon you made my day very special xx

Had a great day at Eaglescott for my Birthday treat, the staff and instructors were all very knowledgeable and imparted there enthusiasm for various forms of flying carried out at the airfield. I was expecting to do a little of the flying myself in effect was given the controls under instruction to assend behind the tow plane and carry out a landing with assistance. I would recommend to anyone the gliding experience in an open cockpit, side by side configuration under expert instruction.
