Explore the rustic Jurassic coastline of Devon from the air in this glider flight departing from Dunkeswell Airfield in Devon. Walking along the UNESCO World Heritage site is impressive enough on foot, but there’s nothing like being able to see the jutting coastline from the air as you gain a new perspective on this beautiful area. You’ll soon realise during this flight why this area of the country is so special and recognised for its unique landscape. From the air you’ll be flying towards Lyme Regis and then West along the coast to Exmouth, appreciating this journey from the air as you take in the stunning landscape. In this 60 minute flight there will be plenty of time to take photographs and if you’re up for it, you can even have a chance at flying the glider as it is equipped with dual control and pilots very willing to show you the basics. If you’ve ever fancied yourself as a pilot, this is a brilliant opportunity to get up close and personal because even if you don’t fancy taking the controls yourself, you’ll be sat right next to the pilot and can oversee all the various controls, as well as overhearing live air traffic control as you fly. After a couple of weather delays, my first ever glider experience was fixed. It being a powered glider added to the experience, since more height could mean a view of both Devon coasts Ian Mitchell, the pilot, was totally brilliant, with a warm, relaxed and engaging personality making the meet and greet, preflight experience, a real joy. His preflight run through was superb..and then we were off...up, up and away When an appropriate altitude was reached, off went the engine, offering a peaceful tour of the Devon and some Somerset countryside. Then, it was my turn to take the controls, an experience never to be forgotten. Ian instructed me through a sequence of manoeuvres, encouraging all the way. Ian is a seasoned pilot, great instructor and all round nice guy He made the flight a wonderful experience into the blue. I was gifted the experience by relatives, as a 70th birthday treat.I cannot recommend this experience too highly.

The instructor was very pleasant and chatty. He offered to take a photo of me and the plane when I wax all strapped in and ready to go. He explained what we were going to do, where we were going to fly and offered me a chance to take the controls, which I did. It was a really fun hour with both flying and gliding and Id do it again.

My 70th birthday and my wife knowing I had always loved the thought of gliding arranged a flight for me. It proved a wonderful experience, clearly in the hands of an experienced pilot I felt totally safe and loved every moment, especially flying along the coast and experiencing the aerial views. Happily recommend to anyone planning to do likewise.

This was purchased on my behalf by my family as a birthday gift. The pilot personally phoned to arrange the flight. I was escorted to the aircraft and everything was explained prior to take off. The flight was fantastic, cruising along the coastline at a gentle pace. Then on the return trip being allowed to control the glider myself. Finally a engine off glided landing. Surperb. Excellent experiece. Thoroughly reccommended.

Great experience, would highly recommend,Ian was a great host, explained everything very well, lets you have a go at the controls when you are up to altitude.Most of the flight is powered by the engine, then he turned of the engine for a glider landing.Would highly recommend.

I had a wonderful time under the tuition of my pilot Ian. Took off from Dunkeswell airfield climbing to five and a half thousand feet on a bright sunny day, during which time I took control of the aircraft obviously under the watchful eye of Ian. Once we reached the desired height the engine was shutdown and we proceeded to glide above the clouds with fabulous views of the West Country in all directions. Reluctantly I did hand back control to Ian for the landing, which was probably for the best. I would highly recommend this activity and hope to do something very similar soon.

This was a birthday present from my family. I had the best experience ever and a memory made I will never forget. Taking controls and flying over Seaton and along the coastline with views for miles was absolute heaven. Jim was a fantastic pilot with a very calm personality and talks you through every instrument and how it all works and then how to keep it at a steady level speed yourself so you can just fly around gently over Devon. I highly recommend it to anyone thinking about it. I think I will definitely be booking this again in the near future.

The whole registering process was simple and email from IntoTheBlue was received, however, there is no details about when and where the activity would take place and there was no response from the event organisor SouthWestMotorglider, until a late email came and telling me to call the instructor the day before flying to check on the weather, but there was no whatif option. Luckily all went smoothly and there was no need for any whatif. The flying day was absolutely stunning, me and my daughter loved it.

Ian is a great guy. He was so welcoming and enthusiastic. He is a very good instructor and I really enjoyed having a chance to fly the glider with and without the engine. This was a gift and what a great gift.

This was a brilliant experience. The pilot, Ian, fitted me in at very short notice. We flew along the beautiful Jurassic Coast. On the return journey he allowed me to take the controls. This was followed by a session of gliding. Thoroughly recommended.

My flight was so enjoyable I couldnt recommend it any more.Ian the pilot talked me through all the safety aspects which reassured me no end. During the flight Ian pointed out various points of interest and instructed me on all the controls before I was allowed to take over for a large part of the flight.Redeeming and booking my flight was simple.

Loved my flight. Have never flown a plane before but was able to take the controls when using the engine and when gliding.Worth noting that you will not be able to glide unless you go to 3000 feet, I paid the extra and it was well worth it.Ian, the pilot was a lovely chap and explained everything thoroughly before trusting me to fly the plane.
