Meet Kira, these magnificent creatures' owner, breeder, trainer, and handler. Her gentle manner and passion for falconry have allowed her to build an incredible bond with her raptors. Witnessing this connection is truly captivating. Kira has established quite a family of birds in Pontefract, including captive-bred birds of prey and rescued raptors that she nursed back to health. Her background in raptor rehabilitation in South Africa has prepared her to provide exceptional care for her birds. You'll have the chance to meet Libby, the African Spotted Eagle Owl; Bungle the Eagle Owl; Tilly, the lovable Barn Owl; Kobie, the bright-eyed Harris Hawk; and even Geoff the Hawk, one of Kira's rescue birds with a special story to tell. This falconry centre in West Yorkshire is open all year round, and Kira will be honoured to welcome you to her world of birds of prey near Pontefract. Each session is held exclusively for you, either as an individual or a small group of up to five, with your family or friends. You'll learn fascinating facts, hear incredible anecdotes, and actively participate in flying these stunning creatures to your hand.

Brilliant experience. Kira was very knowledgable and friendly. Her birds were beautiful characters. It was a hot day for the birds so they were unwilling to fly far but they did fly to us and happily sat on our arms while we chatted and fed them. Well definitely do this again.

Birds of Prey Handling
- Handle a range of birds of prey including; Barn owls, Harris hawks and eagle owls
- Allow up to one hour for this experience

- Suitable outdoor clothing and footwear should be worn
- Spectators are welcome for a small additional charge payable on the day
- £5 per person for the handling and owl encounters, £10 per person for the hawk walk and the half day falconry

Our visit to KL Falconry greatly exceeded our expectations. The owner was very knowledgeable and helpful and we had a fantastic morning with the birds of prey. We would recommend this to any true wildlife lover.

The bird of prey experience was ok. The problem wasnt kira the handeling lady. It was the weather. The birds were too hot. We only had an hour and no flying because of the heat. A bit dissapointing really. But i dont know how it cud have been sorted because noone cant change the weather.

A great day out getting up close and personal to the owls and hawks and Kira was a very knowledgeable falconer with a love and passion for her birds that really shone through
