Our extended Spitfire MkIX Flight Simulator experience offers more time in this purpose built facility at Goodwood Aerodrome in West Sussex, ideal for those looking for real insights into how Spitfire pilots are trained! This simulator was built using original parts from a genuine World War II Spitfire, as well as new parts intended for but never used on modern Spitfire restoration projects. Custom components were also installed to transform this analogue plane into a digital flying machine. Everything appears to be real as you sit in the cockpit because it is. The gauges, for example, are authentic, with working needles and dials that are all controlled by modern electronics installed behind the gauges. The setup is identical to a MkIX Spitfire, down to the motion and feedback. Every bump and turbulence on the grass runway will be felt. This one-of-a-kind Spitfire simulator is housed in a world-class facility in Goodwood, where it is used to train new Spitfire pilots. With seamless projection of the nose and wings, the dome's visuals create an all-encompassing flying scene. With that distinct Merlin engine growl emanating from your headset, it even sounds right. Very enjoyable experience.One thing I think could benefit everyone would be the option to download the flight to a memory stick for people to take home with them. Not sure if possible, but Im sure the imagery from the PC could be recorded.

A birthday present delayed by the pandemic. Well worth waiting for. The staff at Into The Blue and Spitfires.com were polite, knowledgeable and professional. The instructor, Nigel, was exceptional. Flying the simulator was educational, revelatory and completely realistic, but also great fun. The whole experience was amazing. Thank you to everyone involved.

For me, its the nearest Im ever going to get to flying a Spitfire. It was amazing. The instructor, Nigel, was really nice and friendly. He explained everything to you, and gave a good cockpit tour, before the flight.He didnt rush you, into getting in and out of the cockpit. He was very courteous to my wife and myself.All in all, it was a wonderful experience. ,

My technician and host during my experience was top class. Helpful, friendly and above all, non judgemental The simulator itself was very impressive in terms of response and accurate detailing. The only thing I found was that the graphics were not as crisp as expected. They were fine for high level aerobatics but blurred at low level.

Brilliant, you forget you are sitting in a simulator. I will never be able fly in the real thing, but this was for me , the next best experience The instructor, Nigel, was really great and really knew his stuff.

What a great experience, Ive had a lifelong love of the Spitfire and the part this iconic plane played in protecting the UK during WW2. The simulator was made from parts of a real Spitfire and was very convincing when in flight. Great instructor. Would highly recommend.

My Spitfire Simulator experience was absolutely excellent and I would recommend it without hesitation.Having never flown a plane or even seen the cockpit or cabin of one in real life, as opposed to tvcinema, it gave me a real understanding of what is involved in flying.My instructor was excellent giving very clear advice on how to operate the controls throughout all of the session.The picture attached is of me flying over Southampton before heading over to see the Isle of White.

Excellent day out at a fantastic location, the staff and particularly the instruction were very good. The simulator really gives an idea of what pilots had to work with during WW11.
