Get yourself a taste of what gliding is all about with this 30 minute experience at a friendly and experienced flight club at Husbands Bosworth Airfield. Instructors here have been introducing people to gliding here since 1963 and they have over 30 British Glider Association qualified pilots on hand to make the experience as smooth as possible for you. Rest assured you will be in very capable hands as you sit back and enjoy the ride once you’ve gained momentum and settled in the air. Once you get acquainted with the aircraft after a safety briefing you’ll be able to appreciate the wonderful views over Husbands Bosworth as you take in the sights of the Leicestershire countryside. If you find yourself starting to get curious about what it’s like to fly a glider, your instructor may even let you have a taster with the controls. However, if you’re just after enjoying a soaring experience and relaxing in the air, you can certainly do this too. After exploring the immediate views after the airfield, you even have the opportunity to explore a variety of areas such as Market Harborough, Foxton Locks or Wistow Maze on your route. Everyone should experience the unique thrill of silent flight at least once in their lifetime, and with this trial taster session with handfuls of knowledgeable instructors on hand to make your experience memorable, you don’t need to look any further.

Motor Glider Flight
- 30-minute flight in a motor glider

- The gliding centre is open 7 days a week between May and October
- Flights generally operate between 10am and 5.30pm, and continue until dusk on Wednesdays and Thursdays
- All bookings are asked to arrive 15 minutes before their allocated time to do paperwork before they can fly
- All flights are subject to availability and weather conditions

- Under 18s must be accompanied on the airfield by an adult
- A good, general level of fitness is required
- Participants must be agile enough to get in and out of the glider

- You can take along a camera or a small video camera, but it must use a neck-strap to firmly attach it
- Onsite restaurant providing a range of snacks and home-cooked food and bar
- Please note that all flights are at the discretion of the instructor of the day, this also includes letting a student have control of the glider, this is only done if the instructor is happy to hand the controls over
- Spectators are welcome

Super experience, had a great time and did everything I wanted to do.Booking frictionless and all staff friendly and helpful.Just a shame the experience itself was a little shorter than I expected it was going to be, perhaps down to weather conditions.

A great and novel experience which I thoroughly enjoyed. In the capable hands of pilot Dave Lambert, I felt safe and confident. Dave gave me a thorough briefing and explained all aspects of our glide and I took the controls on several occasions. I went up fully expecting that weather conditions would only allow us 15 mins in the air but thanks to Daves skill we were up for 35 mins. Fantastic

We arrived on a nice warm sunny day looking forward with a little trepidation to our flights.After a slight delay and hearing that unfortunately the weather was closing in I did manage to get a short flight but my pal was told it was no longer safe to fly. The following day I spoke with Sally at the club whom seemed to be as disappointed as we had been but promised us both a flight we could arrange in the spring of next year. So staff excellent and thoughtful facilities excellent weather unfortunately unpredictable. Looking forward to having another shot.
