Get to know one of the lightest ways to enjoying a flying experience, with this 30 Minute Flight in a Microlight, including Briefing, available at a wide selection of UK airfields with their own microlight clubs, run and approved by the British Microlight Aircraft Association. Your instructor will give you a thorough pre-flight briefing, so you’ve got the full idea of what to expect once you’re up in the air. Once they’ve strapped you in and got you airborne to level flight, then over the duration of your 30 minute flight, you’ll be able to follow their demonstration and attempt some light mid-air turns - and trust us, they’re very simple to pick up, so we’re confident you’ll get the hang of it in no time at all! And with most venues for this experience offering both the traditional flex-wing, open microlights and the more modern fixed wing microlights, you’ll hopefully be able to find what suits you best, whether it’s being open to the elements or flying as a traditional pilot in training would in a normal aircraft.

- Take a trial 30 minute flying lesson in a fixed-wing* or flex-wing** microlight
- Ground briefing and explanation of the aircraft
- Learn how the controls influence the flight of the aircraft
- Opportunity to take the controls and fly the microlight for part of the flight
- Insulated flying suits are provided for flex-wing flights
- Flight times are 'chock to chock' so include taxi time
* - 'Flex wing' microlights have open style cockpits and a wing like a hang glider
** - 'Fix wing' microlights have a closed cockpit and resemble your typical light aircraft

- A good, general level of fitness and health is required
- If you have any medical conditions please check this with your doctor, some providers may need proof of a doctor's note to ensure that you are fit to fly
- Spectators are most welcome to go along to the airfield to watch the take-off and landing

Went for the microlights based in Welshpool and Nick the chief pilot. Great flying experience with 20 mins at the controls and felt safe and well supervised throughout. Flew at 3000 ft over Lake Vyrnwy and loved every minute. The views over the Welsh country side back to the Shropshire Plain were fantastic. Weather helped with high cloud level, little wind a few thermals and temp at 19C. A great day out was had by all. Thanks again to Nick who made it happen.

Fabulous day up in the skies. Was lucky with the weather as it was very sunny so could see for miles. Tim, my pilot, was excellent at explaining the controls and let me fly for a bit which was a bit nerve racking. He explained where we were and which town was below us and obligingly dipped down so I could nose at the big houses lol. Thoroughly enjoyed it. As did my husband and mother in law who watched all the comings and goings on the airfield whilst I was up in the air from the Cafe. Would recommend this trip any time.

Superb location to fly from. Airfield had backlog due to bad weather in the morning and informed me that flight would be delayed. When informed that we were anxious to return home to tend to horses we were offered an upgrade to a four seat aircraft, which would allow my partner to join me, for a very reasonable additional charge, and for me to take the flight immediately. Great flight.

We paid for a microlight experience which wasnt we we got We were told on arrival that a student was using it They gave us a light aircraft flight which was OK but I paid for a wind in your hair experience, not to sit inside a plain..what I would like to know is why someone else was flying it when we had booked it a month before

Had my flight along with two of my sons and found it an amazing experience. Pilot Barry Light was an absolute gentleman who gave us a very warm welcome, an explanation of controls and flight safety along with a first class aerial tour with running commentary over the Morecombe Bay area. Both my sons wish to express the same feelings. Very highly recommended.

I had a microlight flight at Purple Aviation at Eshott Airfield, Brockenfield Aerodrome, Felton, Northumberland. The company honoured my voucher although I believe they took over from a previous companyI arrived early but was made very welcome and didnt have to wit long for my flight. Callum was a very competent patient pilot and put me at ease. He was very informative about the area and the flight went to quick.The only reason why I havent given a 5 star score was because, much to Callums embarrassment the intercom kept cutting out while he was talking. Otherwise it is 9 out of 10

Having flown microlights several times in the past, this was a great one at Otherton Airfield Stafford. Terence the flying instructor was friendly and professional giving me control for turns, straight and level flight at different altitudes. We flew for an hour and fortunately it was a clear day so the views over Stafford were quite remarkable. This was a birthday present from my family, I enjoyed it so much Ive told them I intend having two birthdays per year in future.

Amazing experience had by my two teenage daughters.The reception, organisation, preparation and flying were all excellent.The staff were very welcoming and made a lot of effort to make my daughters feel comfortable, relaxed and informed. The result was that my daughters were excited rather than nervous, and looking forward to getting in the air from the moment we arrived.Would highly recommend, but would caution that the experience may be addictive,

Great experience going up in the microlight from Perth Airport. The pilot explained everything and even let me take control at steering. The weather was a little hazy but it was a calm day. I would do it again
