Thanks to the dedication of skilled enthusiasts, the East Kent Railway is back on the map, running from Shepherdswell to Eythorne. Seise the opportunity to drive a train for a full return journey on this historical line and experience the thrill of being a team member for a couple of hours. As you journey through the breathtaking landscapes, you'll encounter the highlight of the East Kent Railway - the Golgotha Tunnel, one of the longest in the South-East. Emerging from the tunnel, you'll be greeted by the picturesque Kentish countryside. Make a brief stop at the former Guildford Colliery junction before heading to Eythorne station, the terminus of the trainline. Participating in these experiences grants you a unique insight into the working life of a preserved Light Railway. - Spectators are welcome at no extra charge
- Invite up to 4 passengers to ride on the train while you drive
- Minimum age 18
- Participants must be of good general fitness and able to climb up and down onto a locomotive without assistance.
Minimum Age: 18 years
- Locomotives used for the experience are subject to change, and specific locos can not be guaranteed
- Suitable outdoor clothing and appropriate safety footwear should be worn
- It is advisable to bring gloves
- Tuesday to Friday and some occasional Saturdays between April - October
- Due to the popularity of this experience, please book well in advance to avoid disappointment
- Morning and afternoon sessions are generally available
