London Beekeeping Craft Beer Tasting
About the experience
You wouldn’t think beekeeping is something you’d find in the middle of the hustle and bustle of London. But as you’ll discover on this hands-on Urban Beekeeping and Craft Beer experience, located in full view of The Shard at Kennington Park, it does! This unique experience offers a close insight into urban beekeeping, combined with honey beer brewing. Honey beer is where honey replaces the sugar that brewers usually add to the fermentation process to increase the alcohol content and give the beer its distinct flavour. And the Hiver range of honey beer, which includes Blonde, Amber and Indian Pale Ales, offer a taste which has balance and delicate flavour. Situated in close proximity to Oval tube station in Zone 2 on the London Underground network, you’ll be provided with your beekeeper attire on the day, ready to begin hive inspection. You’ll get to see the queen bee up close, marvel at the beautiful patterns of the honeycomb and learn all about beekeeping in the city. The honey brew team at Hiver will then show you exactly what happens with the harvested sweet nectar, taking you through the process that turns the honey into honey beer. The day ends with the fun part, as you get to sample a taste of the beer that’s been produced, with nibbles and snacks provided. It’s an interactive tasting experience that’s as natural as honey to the bee!
