London has experienced several gin crazes throughout its history. In the 1750s, the city had thousands of "dram shops". During the Victorian era, gin was beloved and luxurious palaces were constructed throughout the capital. Recently, there has been renewed interest in micro-distilleries that create unique and delicious gin flavours for contemporary gin enthusiasts. Your Gin Craze Experience host is knowledgeable in the relationship between Londoners and gin (after all, we have London Dry Gin!). They will guide you to amazing watering holes with impressive features, pubs with stunning interiors, and inns that are privy to incredible stories and urban legends. Get ready to be amazed! You'll be meeting at The Blackfriar, a Victorian drinking house located just across from the train station of the same name. The building was built on the site of a friary and featured colourful frescos and intricate mosaics. You'll be treated to a refreshing G&T to start your tour. After visiting several public houses and gin palaces, you'll reach the City of London Gin Distillery, the only gin distillery located within the City of London. You'll learn about the process of blending their gins and enjoy a tasting flight of four in-house gins. Explore London's hidden gin bars with our Gin Craze Experience! Our tours run regularly throughout the year at 5:30 pm or 8:00 pm, giving you the perfect evening out.
