Welcome to the Ted Lasso Tour of Richmond! As the perpetually positive football coach himself would say, “Be curious, not judgmental.” Join this guided tour in honour of the Emmy-winning Apple TV+ show. You will meet your host and guide at Richmond train station, located in the heart of the south-west London suburb that serves as the home of AFC Richmond, the English football (or soccer) team that Ted Lasso comes over from Kansas to manage. Ted, an American football coach, is initially a fish out of water as he tries to understand the rules of the game (what exactly is offside?). Rebecca Welton, played brilliantly by Hannah Waddingham, hopes he fails, as she only became the owner of the club after a bitter divorce. Fortunately, Ted soon discovers that a smile, kind words, and biscuits can achieve a lot. This two-hour walking tour is as upbeat and positive as the magnificently moustached manager himself, taking you to various filming locations in and around Richmond. Many of the pub and street scenes from the show were actually shot in Richmond. You will visit Ted’s favourite pub, the Crown & Anchor, take a selfie by his front door, see the bench where he had heartfelt conversations, and even visit the spot where Rebecca’s disastrous double date occurred.
