What a fantastic experience. The whole day was brilliant. Duxford was a brilliant place to spend the day and the event itself was incredible. Everyone had a window seat, there were 6 of us in our plane. Seeing the Spitfire flying behind you, beside you and whizzing underneath was exhilarating and very special. We also got a lovely photo included of each of us next to the Spitfire. Highly recommend this for a special, once in a lifetime experience.

Thoroughly enjoyable experience. It was a huge thrill seeing a Spitfire close up in its natural environment in the air. Due to the seating arrangement in the Rapide all 8 passengers had an uninterrupted view of the Spitfire at different times as it rolled and literally flew rings around us!

(MIND BLOWING). When i got out of the Rapide after the flight & was asked how it was! i honestly felt quite overcome & for a time couldn't speak, i even found it difficult to thank the young lad when he gave me the photo that they had taken of me standing by the Spitfire before the flight. I have to be honest i find it quite difficult in confined spaces, but as soon as i took my seat which happened to be at the front right behind the pilot my mind wouldn`t let me think about it, the expectation took over & my expectation was exceeded 100 fold. When i looked out at the Spitfire alongside i had a sense of what it must have been like for the other Spitfire pilots in the last war, a very emotional feeling. I would do it again tomorrow but this flight will last in my memory forever. I couldn't believe how close the Spitfire pilot got to us. it was a present from my wife for my 70th, & i can say without doubt the best present I've ever received. In addition i found all the staff very pleasant & informative, most professional Many thanks

Flight with Into The Blue was a present from my children and closer friends for my birthday nearly 2 years ago, because of covid situation I couldn't go last year but I did it this year and ..IT WAS ONE OF THE BEST DAYS IN MY LIFE. EXCITEMENT AND AMAZING VIEWS WERE UNBELIEVABLE!!!! IT WAS WORTH TO WAIT THAT LONG . I ENJOYED EACH SECOND OF THIS FLIGHT...WOW.. I recommending it all aviation fans. Just du it!!! Every aspect of the experience was special, from the flight in the wonderful DH Dragon Rapide, to the wing-to-wing flying experience with the most beautiful flying machine in the world, the Mk1 Spitfire, and back to discussion with the pilot of the latter on the ground. As an early 'baby boomer', I was brought up drawing Spitfires and Lancasters - this experience was a dream come true!

This was a birthday treat for my husband and really enjoyable for both of us. In some ways the museum was the better part of the day for me as we could do it together but the 'experience' was well organised and the Spitfires are impressive to see and hear. We both got good photos from the ground and air although good photos from the air was quite dependent on where you sat in the Dragon Plane.

From arrival to return the experience is one to remember, the Rapide is an experience in itself just to fly in clearly looked after its just great machine.
Flying over the Cams country side with just great views to see then watching the Spitfire fly in and come alongside within feet is just something very special. What an aircraft with its smooth manoeuvring around the sky. Lovely day and enjoyable one off experience.

Notwithstanding that my original experience time was changed by the "provider" at relatively short notice, overall It was a most enjoyable "flight experience" The reception at Classic Wings was very friendly and helpful. One has to experience the flight in a 1934 DeHaviland Rapide to appreciate the art of flying.The views of a Spitfire approaching ,accompanying and then flying off was most memorable. Overall, a wonderful experience.

The preflight arrangements not professional. Too much hanging about even allowing for delay. Could have done better.
The Spitfire could have made gentle manoeuvres to give plan views. Also remember passengers in front of the wings.

Utterly wonderful experience!! the only drawback was having to contain the involuntary squeal when I saw the Spitfire coming along side our beautiful Dragon Rapide bi-plane, but the good news was that the fab noise from the Dragon drowned me out so what the heck .........Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!! the memory of this experience will stay with me until I shuffle off this mortal coil. FANTASTIC !!!! I attended Duxford on the 05/06/16 and my experience was the 'Wing to wing' flight with a spitfire. The whole event was well organised and was superb along was the weather. The staff were excellent, friendly and willing to spend a little time talking about the event and themselves. The event was worth every penny. I now have a load of fantastic photos and video of the actual flight and from the day itself.

Excellent facilities at Duxford, Classic Wings were without exception, lovely / professional people to deal with and I haven't seen that big a smile on my mum's face for a long time, and she still has it 5 days later - say no more!!! I even went up for a 15 minute flight in a De Havilland as they had space and it was quite reasonable - and me too - big smiles all round. Thank you all!

My Duxford experience was the wing to wing flight with the spitfire, it was fantastic, worth every penny. I must send my thanks to all the staff at classic wings as the Saturday flights were cancelled due to bad weather, fortunately I had booked in a local B&B for that night, when I told the staff this they organised a flight for me the following day. One thing I would recommend is if possible make it a weekend experience at Duxford if you are flying, one day to take in all the excellent museums and a day to enjoy the flying as a day is just not long enough to enjoy this great place. All the staff were very helpful and the whole experience is very good value. I will be back next year for a flight in a tiger moth, can't wait. Danny Pope

Weather was a little iffy early morning but soon turned into a georgeos sunny day. Flights were running an hour behind schedule but was well looked after with tea and bikkies. The DH Dragon Rapide was an experience in itself. Very basic and noisy but great views out of the big windows. The Spitfire formated with the Rapide for a good 15 minutes twice on each side posing for the many photos and videos.
Added to that the brilliant exhibitions at Duxford, it was a day to remember.

Everything was good about the actual experience. However, as we had been cancelled the day before, Classic Wings were trying to catch up. We were told we would be going at 12.30pm, but in the end we flew at 2pm as they sent up 3 flights in very short order. We were unable to leave and do anything whilst we waited in HOT sunshine.

It was a unique experience. The safety briefing was light-hearted and amusing. There was a slight delay in loading the aircraft but we were kept well informed. The actual flight was superb with the Spitfire flying almost wing tip to wing tip with the Rapide for several minutes. The pilot flew the Spitfire along both sides of the Rapide so everybody got a perfect view of it. Brilliant.

One small point - could the windows be quickly cleaned before each flight in the Dragon Rapide as my photos have dark blobs from the bits of dirt that were on the outside. Other than that Great!

The Spitfire Experience itself was absolutely great. We were lucky with the weather which added a little extra. This was a fabulous Christmas present which was well worth waiting for. Everything was well managed, providing great photo opportunities at close quarters. Duxford itself was a fabulous visit too.
The only downside was not with the Experience itself but a Welcome Pack was not forwarded to me which apparently includes info about the planes and a certificate to be signed on the day. This meant that a replacement certificate which was finally provided after a very long wait was not actually for the experience I had taken. Very disappointing in an otherwise great day.

The flight was amazing - felt I could almost touch the Spitfire and I am sure the pilot could see me grinning! As part of the safety briefing it would have been helpful to know what to expect in the air and to hear some history on the role of the Spitfire.
We spent the whole day at Duxford and thought it was excellent - staff were exceptional & there are wheelchairs and a van for people with mobility issues, which is a saviour on such a big site. We joined some interesting free talks - which is always better than trying to read all day.

What a brilliant experience. I was advised before the event that the timings had changed slightly. Then on the actual day the flight was delayed just a little because of low clouds and light rain.
The spitfire flies very close to the plane, I managed to get some very good photos.

Stunning experience, waiting for the clouds to part and the light rain to pass was certainly worth the short wait. The team are warm welcoming, put you at ease (not needed) and help build the controlled excitement with a host of likeminded fans. Wonderful environment in the briefing room, but best of all is the flying experience, the Spitfire pilot spent some considerable time thought all seated positions to ensure photo opportunities were maximised, I have some amazing photos - couldn't wait to get home to edit and share. Highly recommended, this was my 40th Birthday presssie from my family, honoured to experience this lifetime chance.

Difficult to get direct photographs of the Spitfire without parts of the Rapide wings in the way. Would have liked to have heard the history of the Spitfire and something about the pilot for that day as part of the briefing or paperwork sent by email. Had to research it afterwards. Otherwise a really memorable experience. My book Palmers Hill - about two brothers killed flying in 1940, one in the Battle, once again came alive to me.

Fabulous!!!!, a life times desire brought to life in a fantastic location, The best XMAS present ever . Staff were extreamly considerate helpfull and a real credit , keeping every thing going when faced with a couple of unpredictable complications every ones safety being paramount . weather conditions closing in, and minor running problem on one plane when a spark plug miss fire was noted and the plane grounded for technical assesment and repair . We bought the spitfire experience for my husbands birthday. He said it was one of the best experiences of his life. We found the staff to be most polite and helpful, as all the family (7 of us) had travelled up for the day, this helped make the day memorable for everyone. The museum was very interesting, although it was a shame to see a lot of the planes, especially in the American area to be very dusty and dirty. However, this did not spoil our day, it's just an observation . The cafes around the site were all very nice, with good food and service available. All in all, a great day for my husband and all our family.

A fabulous experience! Just standing on the balcony of the control tower and watching a Spit and a Harvard do a low level flypast was a treat in itself. I didn't know what to expect - maybe see a Spitfire 100 yards off our wingtip for a few minutes maybe, which would have been exciting. However, what I experienced was SO exciting - a Spitfire that saw action in WW2 flying in very close formation with the our Rapide for 15 minutes and then to top it all, it did wing-overs with dummy attacks, swooping in, really fast underneath us - breathtaking. The skill of both pilots was outstanding. It was thrill I want to have again and this time with my son and nephew. It was the best Christmas present I've ever had! Thank you again for providing such a wonderful experience amid such an inspiring environment; the museum, which we then spent several hours admiring and learning from.

This was a surprise present from my daughter and son-in-law for my 80th birthday in May. I certainly chose the right day for a great family outing at Duxford. It might be trite to say but superlatives are inadequate to describe the experience from start to finish. The Dominie reminded me of my National Service in the RAF in which I was a humble LAC nursing attendant having failed my original aircrew course. The Mk IX Spitfire was superbly flown and its extraordinary agility was amply displayed coming within 6 feet wing to wing and at an airspeed well below its maximum.....graceful restrained power,

It was a great experience from start to finish. The staff were friendly and helpful and everything met my expectations. The weather was beautiful and the Spitfire looked amazing against a blue sky and cumulus clouds. It was particularly memorable to fly in the Dragon Rapide as this was the first aircraft that I flew in as a 13 year old in 1953!

For elderly grandparents celebrating their Golden Wedding it was an unforgettable experience. A wonderful present from our children and their other-halves. We had seen a spitfire flying many times over the years but to see one flying in formation with us was such a thrill. It was so close and still a most beautiful aeroplane. The Duxford team who looked after us were most kind and helpful - treating the whole exercise as if it was very special - as it was.

The whole experience was well organised and everything went according to plan. Flying in the Rapide is so different from modern aircraft and everyone had a window seat. You don't need a long lens to photograph the Spitfire which flies quite close - in fact a long lens is a disadvantage because you sit so close to the window. The Spitfire pilot put on an excellent display for passengers on both sides of the Rapide.

My Dad, really enjoyed the experience, flying alongside a Spitfire was dream come true for him. An Aircraft he remembers from his childhood, a beautiful and graceful aircraft from the second world war. He also enjoyed looking around the museum which was very interesting.

It was one of the best experiences in my life, I was so excited beforehand I was buzzing!. The whole thing from start to finish was brilliant The staff were all friendly and joking, the safety talk beforehand even had a few jokes put in to make everyone feel welcome and at ease. I was the only woman on the flight and it was quite funny when all the women and my boyfriend went off to the side and then myself and all the men went up into the control tower. The Spitfire pilot was amazing and when the Spitfire came into view he was so close you could have seen him wink !!
He sat on our wing while we took some incredible photos and then did some really fantastic flying from side to side coming up underneath us and at one point tipping up and showing us the underside of his wings and then zooming off into the distance with his wings vertical. We all had our own photo done to remember the day; not that I need a reminder, It will always be with me, it was fantastic !! The museums were very interesting and there was so much more at Duxford than I was expecting. It was a full day out and so interesting. I took 200 odd photos and I can't wait to go again. I saw a lady getting into a two sweater plane just as we were going and I shall be looking into what she was doing next ...........

I flew "wing to wing" from Duxford. Some things in life are a one off events. To see an iconic and beautiful flying machine such as the Spitfire in the environment it was designed for (in the air) was one such event I will never forget. Thank you . Preparation and flight personnel assisted with such a great day.

A great day out, the museum is terrific and the rapide flight was really memorable....we were wingtip to wingtip with the spitfire. As we were the last customers on the day the pilot put on an airshow for us while we watched from the control tower balcony.........wonderful.
Be sure to check the weather before you go as this activity can be cancelled at short notice.

What can I say it was absolutely amazing, from arrival and the greeting from very professional but friendly and informative staff to the aircraft and their pilots. The whole experience was out of this world the champagne at the end was the icing on the cake. if you are in to historic aircraft just book the experience and enjoy. My only regret is I did not book it sooner. Very many thanks to all concerned WELL DONE !!!!!

A wonderful day out at Duxford with excellent service by the enthusiastic team. To get up 'close and personal' with a Spitfire on the ground as well as in the air aboard a De Havilland Dragon Rapide was an unforgettable experience. To top it all, the weather was sunny and calm allowing close formation flying and some priceless photographs Thoroughly recommended for anyone with a sense of adventure and nostalgia and an interest in aviation,

I have always loved the Spitfire since being a young boy and this was a fabulous experience to see one up so close and flying. The flight in the De Havilland Rapide was an added bonus as was the opportunity to look around the Imperial War Museum at Duxford.

Seeing an authentic WWII Spitfire so close up was an experience I will always remember. While expecting something good it was an amazing experience, made much better by Duxford itself. Ignoring how close the Spifire came, the flight and Duxford alone was worth the trip.

It was a gift, and what a gift! Wow, where else would you have a Spitfire not only flying next to you (almost touching distance), but flying all around you; it didn’t seem like he was in a hurry to leave either. The weather was somewhat unpredictable, but we were kept entertained and engaged with a wealth of knowledge from the guy on the ground until there was a break from the rain.
I honestly don’t think I could have asked for anything better. Thank you to everyone involved.

Excellent experience. A single wing vintage aircraft would be better to view the Spitfire flying along side and take photos.
