About the experience
When you go on this one day design and make blacksmith course in Herefordshire, you'll discover that you can make just about anything at the forge! As part of a small group of four, two master qualified blacksmiths, Matt and Floyd, at the Fair Mile Forge near Leominster, will be helping you along the way, offering hands-on demonstrations where you can put your new found skills to use almost immediately, as you craft all sorts of objects, from fire pokers to trinkets and hanging basket brackets. You'll be working a solid fuel coke forge, so naturally, you'd be best advised to dress appropriately for the occasion in clothes you don't mind getting a bit dirty. And indeed, nothing will beat the satisfaction you feel when you head for home with the item you've made as a fitting and lasting memento of your day!

- Welcome, introduction and safety briefing
- All tools and equipment will be provided
- Learn the basics of blacksmithing
- You'll be instructed on how to use the fires and learn about heating and hammering your steel along with watching a demo before creating your own trinkets
- Take your creations home with you at the end of the workshop
- Tea and coffee are provided but you are welcome to bring snacks or lunch with you (a local pub takeaway can also be arranged for a supplement)
- You may form part of a group of up to 4 people
One Day Design and Make Experience
- Design and make your own forged creation such as a hanging basket bracket, fire set hinges or an assortment of trinkets
- Please allow 9 hours for this experience

- Experiences tend to run fortnightly throughout the year, subject to availability
- Please wear suitable clothing such as cotton and denim that you do not mind getting dirty
- Please do not wear acrylic or nylon clothing
- Closed toe shoes must be worn
