Are you a bird lover? If so, head to Pontefract in West Yorkshire for an unforgettable experience! Meet a variety of birds of prey and choose from different options such as going on a hawk walk, flying owls, taking an introductory course, or spending a half day at the aviary near Leeds. Kira, the owner, breeder, trainer, and handler of the birds, will be your guide throughout the experience. She is an incredibly passionate falconer who has built an amazing relationship with her raptors. Witnessing her work with the birds is truly captivating. At Pontefract, you will meet an assortment of birds, including Libby the African Spotted Eagle Owl, Bungle the Eagle Owl, Tilly the Barn Owl, Kobie the Harris Hawk, and even Geoff the Hawk, who has a special story to tell. Kira has also rescued and nursed back to health some raptors. She studied raptor rehabilitation in South Africa before returning to her native West Yorkshire to set up her aviaries. This falconry centre is open all year round, and Kira offers exclusive sessions for individuals or small groups of up to five. You will learn a lot, hear some nice anecdotes, and even get to actively fly these stunning creatures to your hand. Hawk Walk:

Brilliant experience. Kira was very knowledgable and friendly. Her birds were beautiful characters. It was a hot day for the birds so they were unwilling to fly far but they did fly to us and happily sat on our arms while we chatted and fed them. We'll definitely do this again.

The bird of prey experience was ok. The problem wasnt kira the handeling lady. It was the weather. The birds were too hot. We only had an hour and no flying because of the heat. A bit dissapointing really. But i dont know how it cud have been sorted because noone cant change the weather.
