About the experience

Experience the fascinating world of beekeeping on the Norfolk/Suffolk border! Join the bees and their human helper for a two-hour visit to a lovely apiary where you'll learn everything about keeping bees. Located near Bungay, in the tranquil countryside of East Anglia, Stacy and her bees will welcome you to their beautiful home. Surrounded by farms, fields, and flower meadows, the bees have the perfect environment for pollen-hunting and impressing their Queen. Get ready to be amazed by the fascinating world of bees. With Stacy's guidance, you'll discover how they make honey, where they go during winter, how they make wax, and how they communicate. You'll not only observe but also handle the frames of bees, identify pollen and honey stocks, search for eggs, and find the Queen bee among thousands of her workers. Stacy's passion for beekeeping is evident, as she sells her natural and handmade honey, beeswax candles and wraps, leather balm, and wood polish all over East Anglia, Essex, and beyond. After spending time around the hives, you'll get to taste the delicious honey produced by Stacy's talented bees. It's an experience you'll never forget!

Amazing experience!! Very informative and interesting. Had private introduction for two and was by far best Christmas present I’ve had. Stacy was a great at showing us the hives, teaching how bees live and making the experience fun. A must do for nature lovers.

Stacy was most welcoming and during the event her approach was not to talk down on you but was to involve you in sharing her passion for the bees. A lot of information about bees was given to us so that we could understand what goes on in a hive. On the day of the event, whilst a smoker was to hand it was not really required but was used to demonstrate the bees reaction to being 'puffed' by the smoke. No-one was stung and the 2 hives examined contained very un-stressed bees. We were shown how to remove frames carefully and were encouraged to perform it for ourselves. In one hive we identified the queen bee, which didn't seem to be present in the other. Honey tasting at the end showed how different flavours had been imparted to each jar of honey depending on which flowers the nectar mainly came from. It was really outstanding to have been there.

This was a wonderful experience, just as I expected but far more too. After a great welcome and introduction I put on my first ever beekeeper's suit and hat! Being able to hold the trays of honeycomb was fantastic and witness the queen bee at work close up. The whole atmosphere was very tranquil, the gentle constant buzz of bees in the background was part of a greater understanding and insight into their world which is so important to ours.
