Those with an eye on getting into aviation will be off to a flying start - quite literally - with this fantastic value Starter package! And the reason why it's because for a special price, we've bundled together 5 hour long flying lessons in a 4 seater aeroplane. And it gets better, because you or the lucky recipient will be learning to fly at the historic Biggin Hill Airport in Kent. It's been teaching new flyers since 1977, but of course, to most people, it's still best known from its time as the front line Battle of Britain RAF station during WWII, which the site still proudly commemorates to this day. Indeed, one element of taking your lessons that will strike you immediately is how long the runway is - and that's because it can accommodate modern commercial airliners. There's generally quite a bit of corporate and business jet traffic coming and going here, and indeed, as you take off you'll pass the line of resident and visiting planes, including Spitfires or even the latest Embraer! An expert and qualified flying instructor will be with you throughout each of your sessions, and will be taking you through exercise number three in the pilot's syllabus, where you learn to fly "straight and level" - which any seasoned pilot can tell you will sit long in the memory! Best of all, all of your lessons will be logged in your pilot's logbook, and will count towards your hours of learning required to obtain your PPL (Private Pilot's Licence). So for those with designs on mastering flying a plane, this package is the best place to begin your illustrious piloting career!

Suitability

Minimum age of 14 years old
Under 18s must be accompanied by an adult on the airfield
Photographic ID will be required on the day
Maximum weight 16 stone
Maximum height 6ft 3ins

Spectators

Spectators are welcome to attend and watch participants in flight with plenty of great photo opportunities
An interested observer (min age 14) may observe the lesson from the rear seat subject to weight restrictions and at the discretion of the instructor

Availability

Experiences are available weekdays and weekends throughout the year, subject to weather conditions and availability
Although time slots are allocated please be aware that aircraft lessons are subject to a number of factors which may potentially cause delay to your scheduled time
Whilst every effort will be made to help keep you on time we ask for a degree of latitude owing to the nature of flying, air traffic delays and weather considerations
Due to the popularity of this venue please book well in advance to avoid disappointment

Anything Else

If you wish to achieve a Private Pilot's Licence (PPL), you'll need to complete at least 45 hours of flight training and complete theory exams. The flying school will be able to advise you on the additional costs involved

Shame the lessons are so weather dependant and therefore makes ones life diary difficult to manage, having said that, an experience not to be missed,turbulence buffering hightens how fragile a small plane can be in the ether. Adrenaline hit?!!!!!!!!!!!

Well all I can say is wow what a great day for taking to the skies around Sevenoaks from Biggin Hill airport took the controls and flew the plane. Had a laugh with the pilot as we walked around the plane doing preflight checks engine dam thought someone nicked it small compact engine thought someone replaced it with one from flymo blink and you'll miss it !! All I can say is great day, great pilot and great time thank you.

Superb experience - flying from Biggin Hill! Apart from takeoff and landing I did most of the flying and really started to get the hang of it. Well recommended but bear in mind that it is weather dependent.

My I hour introductory flying lesson was very enjoyable and informative. I flew the plane for about 40 mins, although the instructor handled take off and landing (for obvious reasons). Well worth it.

I had a flying lession in Piper Warrior PA28 as my birthday present. Really enjoyed the whole experience. The EFG flying school staff was very friendly and welcoming. My instructor Paul was very experienced, clear and reassuring. I was able to do quite a lot during an hour and got a real feel of how to fly a plane. Really recommend this experience to anybody.
