Today's flight was my second Gyrocopter experience, again a present from my wife for my birthday last August. It's valid for a full year so I held back for better weather in the spring. Alas, with this year's spring came Coronavirus and lockdown. But with 3 weeks to spare we were out of lockdown, and found a good day to fly.
As it was my second flight in a gyrocopter I knew what to expect. Yes, it looks tiny, but trust me, this has arguably got to be the most comfortable and safest way to fly. The rotor above your head is turned with the wind blowing up through it, and that is what lift you up into the sky. The faster the wind spins the rotor, the more it lifts you up. As you come down the harder the wind blows through the rotor, the more it lift you up. Do the maths. It's simple. You need a dry day because you are sitting in an open cockpit, behind the pilot, wearing a padded flying suit and helmet with earphones and a mike for communication. The controls are the simplest of any flying machine. A joystick and a throttle lever. Plenty of instruments to let you know all about the engine, and speed, and height, and all that, but actually flying the gyrocopter it simply needs a couple of fingers lightly on the joystick, and a steady eye on the horizon to keep you level. With the sides of the cockpit barely and waist height the views from it are unlimited. From a thousand feet or so and the whole of the Tay Valley around you the views are magnificent, you will soon like me, wishing it will last longer. My only word of warning, don't go up in a really hot sunny day. that flying suit can get very hot after a while.

A great experience. Very professional. All the safety features well explained without being scary. Actually controlling it was fantastic, it's so light, and responsive, and smooth. the only bumps felt were when we Taxied out to take-off. Were I younger, I would buy one myself.

I had a first rate experience with Kevin today, safety briefing was undertaken, all explained by Kevin characteristics of the gyrocopter all explained before going on the flight. I took my camera but hardly took any pictures was so engrossed in flying the gyrocopter myself. Great experience I would heartily recommend it to anyone.

this was one of the best things I've ever done - the people flying/teaching us, Richard and Kevin, were both friendly, professional, enthusiastic and utterly calm - both conscious of safety, reassuring when you're open to the elements hundreds of feet in the air, and keen to show what the gyrocopter is capable of.. they were happy to let you do as much or little flying yourself as you wanted, it was exciting and pleasureable, i was impressed by the huge experience of our flyers, though they have lost none of their love for what they are doing - i would recommend this to anyone - it was a marvellous experience, and made me want to do more of the same.

Got given this voucher by my wife as a Christmas present. Have completed the gyrocopter experience today and thoroughly enjoyed it. Puts the countryside into a whole new perspective, that even flying in a conventional aircraft or helicopter can't reproduce. Many thanks to Kevin, my pilot instructor, for providing a perfect enjoyable flight. I think the weather made it a perfect day too, wouldn't fancy it on a cold wet day, you are well open to the elements.
