Taking off from North Denes Airfield, the site opening in 1950 was the ideal base for off-shore aircraft operations, primarily helicopters which began flying from the fixed wing in 1965. Our flight operator has a small vintage collection of Tiger Moths, among which the late 1940 model reigns supreme for this unique experience. Complementing this iconic aircraft are another 1940 Moth and a rare 1935 variant, all housed at Yarmouth. - Minimum age 14
- Under 18s must always be accompanied on the airfield by an adult
- Maximum weight limit is 18 stone/112.31 kg
- Minimum hight 4ft 11ins, Maximum 6ft 7ins
- You must be agile enough to climb in and out of the cockpit
- Flying season is late April to the end of October
- Flights operate Monday to Thursday with one weekend day per week
- Flying hours are 10:30-16:00
- Flights are weather dependent, if your flight is unfortunately cancelled you can rebook at your next available opportunity
- Weekday vouchers are valid only for use through Monday-Thursday

The flight in the Tiger Moth was excellent but it was marred by one issue; I couldn't hear what the pilot was saying while we were in the air despite my headset being turned up fully. This needs addressing as I should have been able to hear him when he needed to take back control. This is a potential safety issue that can be addressed by the intercom equipment

Absolutely wonderful experience. This was a retirement gift which I thoroughly enjoyed. The booking process was efficient and on the day everything was clearly explained and worked well. I felt in very safe hands with Chris (the pilot). I thought the landing was very smooth, but Chris apologised for it being a bit bumpy - certainly not to me. Whilst not a thrill seeker, I did opt for the 'loop the loop' and would certain recommend it. Overall, a great experience that I would definitely recommend.

Whilst not an experience I would have thought of doing I can thoroughly recommend the Tiger Moth flight, regardless of whether you're an aviation fan or not. Chris (the pilot) was charming and witty and the thrill of looping the loop in a Tiger Moth is one I can highly recommend. It was an amazing experience and, if you're brave enough, you can even take control and have a go at flying this beautiful old girl. I can't recommend enough and will be returning to watch my other half take a turn!

My Wife had bought the Tiger Moth flying lesson for my 60th.. And I have to say it was the most fun experience that I have had in a very long time.
We got to the venue 30 minutes before our scheduled time, as instructed, and met some of the Guys who made us feel very welcome and relaxed ( I will admit I was a bit nervous.. just a bit). We chatted with them and had a cup of tea, the sun was shining it was a glorious day. Then it came to my turn.
I was so excited, I had my pre-flight briefing which was very clear and concise, I had been given my instructions on how the Pilot would guide me through the controls, what to listen out for and how to respond, I was ready.
I climbed into the cockpit, I'm 6'6" so not an easy task, but when I was inside I was surprised of how much room I had and once strapped in and my hat was on, Biggles style, the Pilot introduced himself (Chris) and briefed me on what was going to happen as we taxied out to the runway before take off.
We took off and started to climb, all the time Chris was chatting to me, pointing out different land marks and preparing me to "follow through" which means you rest your hands and feet on the controls while the Pilot flies so you get a feel of controlling the plane. After a few Follow throughs, Chris let me take control, coaching me to keep the wings level and to pull up or dip the nose until I could fly straight and turn a bit by myself, what an exhilarating experience it was to actually fly by yourself, amazing!
After flying by myself for awhile Chris took control and said "Barrel roll or Loop?" I replied "Barrel roll please". 2 minutes later I was looking at the world from a very different perspective and letting out a "WOOHOO!" as we gently rolled the Plane.
When we landed I climbed out of the cockpit, I had a huge smile on my face, it was so much fun. I bought the video, well worth it, thanked everyone and my Wife and I got into the Car and went back home, I have told everyone about my experience and how much of a great day it was, I'm probably going to book another flight.
I would Like to thank Chris and all the staff for making us feel at ease and welcome, really nice, down to earth people and I would totally recommend this experience to anyone.
Once again, thank you so much guys, I was Biggles for a day and it was awesome!

On the day, the flying lesson in a Tiger Moth was great. Friendly, professional staff and for an extra fee, you can purchase a video recording of the lesson. Directions to the correct gate at Bicester airfield could be a little clearer, but that’s just nit-picking.
